"Many Photos" - Liverpool were lucky to beat Spurs, it makes you think their name could be on the Premier League trophy

LIVERPOOL got lucky and did not deserve to beat Tottenham.

But the way they won was like Sir Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United — it was about great character and sheer endeavour.

Jurgen Klopp’s side just found a way to win, albeit thanks to two terrible errors from Tottenham.

Moussa Sissoko missed an absolute sitter and if that goes in then the Reds’ title chances are over.

And there is no explanation for Hugo Lloris not catching Mo Salah’s header before the winner ricocheted in off Toby Alderweireld.

Give Lloris another thousand of those simple catches and the Spurs keeper will take them.

Finding a way to win those games is a great trait to have.

Sometimes you think: “Is Liverpool’s name on the trophy?”

LADY LUCK

Look at what happened with Jordan Pickford’s mistake for Divock Origi’s winner at the Kop End in the derby.

Liverpool had no right to win yesterday’s game because Spurs were the much better team in the second half.

It would have been a disaster for Klopp had they not won, particularly when Manchester City play relegation-threatened Cardiff on Wednesday.

Everyone is now looking at the Manchester derby on April 24 as key.

But had Liverpool not beaten Spurs then City could have lost at Old Trafford and still won the title.

So this could end up being a pivotal day in the title race.

There was a nervousness around Anfield after the break.

That comes from their fans and it shows how desperate they are to win it.

This is a team that could have been ten points clear at the top of the league had they beaten City three months ago.

Yesterday they could have been behind City — but still played a game more.

Liverpool were all over Tottenham in the first half and their system worked much better.

POCH IMPACT

Andy Robertson was running riot down the left-hand side and the Spurs wing-backs couldn’t get out.

That left Robertson to come forward and he put in a brilliant cross for Roberto Firmino to head in the opener.

Liverpool were worth their half-time lead, but Mauricio Pochettino’s tactics changed the game after the break.

The Spurs boss moved to a back-four and pushed Danny Rose further forward.

It led to them deservedly levelling, with right-back Kieran Trippier much more advanced to find Lucas Moura.

Pochettino’s tactical switch made a huge difference and it should have won Spurs the game.
