THE furore over disgraced Labour MP Kate Osamor deepened after her controversial mother was sworn in as a new member of the House of Lords last night.

Jeremy Corbyn’s decision to hand her the life peerage sparked outrage because of her role supporting Labour activists suspended over anti-Semitism.

Lady Osamor is a veteran civil rights campaigner who signed a letter protesting the Labour party’s decision to kick out Ken Livingstone, who was suspended over claims that Hitler supported Zionism in the 1930s.

Mr Livingstone subsequently resigned from Labour, saying the issues around his suspension had become a distraction.

Kate Osamor, 50, was forced to quit as Mr Corbyn’s Shadow International Development Secretary on Saturday over accusations she misled the public over her son’s drug offences and threatening to hit a journalist with a bat.

Ishmael Osamor was sentenced to community service for taking £2,500 worth of deadly Class As to a music festival last year.

But her mother Kate continued to employ him as her chief of staff.
