New photo Aquaman is a huge box office hit – and more mums than dads have watched it

THERE’S no denying that Aquaman has become a huge success.

The blockbuster made an incredible $748.8 million (£586 million) at the global box office in its opening weekend – and women have played a large part in that.

According to Deadline, figures compiled by Screen Engine and ComScore’s PostTrak reveal that a significant percentage of Aquaman’s viewers have been women over the age of 25.

The publication also reports that more mums have headed to the cinema then dads, at 52 percent to 48 percent.

Furthermore, 82 percent of these mums are reported to have enjoyed the film.

This is compared to 60 percent of dads.

So, why are we so into Aquaman?

Deadline has described how the film was marketed at women – and lead actor Jason Momoa may have helped with this.

But there was also a clear focus on his co-stars Nicole Kidman and Amber Heard, who play two strong female characters.

Not only that, but reports of the gender gap in comic fandom narrowing have been around since 2015.

Whatever the case, we’re definitely looking forward to the superhero films 2019 has to offer.

Meanwhile, the lead character in Friends has been revealed… so do you agree?

Zack from Saved By The Bell is back in a new TV drama and he’s totally unrecognisable.

And from Billy Peltzer to his love interest Kate – see what the kids from Gremlins look like now 34 years later.

Hayden says: “I don’t have a model’s body, but I’m not one of those crazy girls who thinks that they’re fat. I’m OK with what I have.”

Nicollette says: “I don’t like diets – I see it, I eat it! I believe in eating healthily with lots of protein, vegetables and carbs to give you energy.”
