New photo White House unveils Melania Trump’s bizarre RED Christmas trees – and the internet reacts just how you’d expect

THE White House Christmas decorations are up and the internet hasn’t given the First Lady’s designs the best reception.

Memes and tweets mocking Melania Trump’s blood-red Christmas trees and other unusually sinister decorations have been flooding Twitter.

Mrs Trump shared a video of her 2018 decorations for the festive period, saying the house was “sparkling”.

Every year a team of White House staff and volunteers deck the halls of the President’s house – and the theme this year was ‘American Treasures’.

But not everyone was impressed with their work and critics didn’t hold back.

Most said Mrs Trump’s blood-red trees looked sinister, and aren’t in keeping with the festive period.

Mrs Trump didn’t miss the opportunity to promote her ‘Be Best’ campaign either.

Her campaign is aimed at young Americans, advocating against cyber bullying and drug use.

The campaign was introduced earlier this year and has been criticised for having a grammatically incorrect title.

She featured the campaign’s ‘Be Best’ pencils in a wreath and even had Christmas baubles featuring the slogan made.

The response to the garish and creepy decorations was not positive across the board – but there were definitely some hilarious tweets about them.

One Twitter user @anxiousleia wrote: “You know what, I actually like the White House Christmas decorations. I liked last year’s too. But this is coming from someone who would like nothing more than to decorate their entire house with Halloween decorations ”.

Meanwhile many focused on the trees’ blood-red colour, with @JustWonderlyful writing on Twitter: “The new White House Christmas decorations make it look like the building is hemorrhaging.”

And one Twitter user even looked to an “alternate universe” to speculate what decorations Bill Clinton would have designed, had his wife won the presidential race.

She wrote: “On the upside, in the alternate universe where Hillary won, Bill is walking around the White House admiring the Christmas decorations in a video just like this one, and that is probably amazing”.
