WAYNE ROONEY’S charity missed out on thousands of pounds after the bucket collection promised by the FA failed to take place.
The FA stressed before Roo’s England farewell game against the United States that various collection points would be set up inside and outside Wembley so people could donate loose change to Rooney’s Foundation.

The former England captain repeatedly insisted Thursday’s friendly was all about raising money “to help the children”.
Over 68,000 fans gave Roo a standing ovation when he came on as a sub for his 120th and final Three Lions cap during the 3-0 win.
Although the FA holds a licence to collect charitable donations on stadium concourses, there was not a single person collecting cash on match night.
FA chiefs admitted they did not have enough time to set up collection areas or to find volunteers inside the stadium.
A separate permit to hold bucket collections outside the stadium must be made at least ten days in advance of the fixture.
However, police and Brent Council prioritise Armistice Day collections during November, which led to complications getting a permit.
FA chiefs maintained that plans to celebrate Rooney’s playing service had been in the pipeline for more than a year.
It raises questions why Rooney’s Foundation team and the FA could not get their act together quickly enough.
Wayne Rooney’s teary speech to England stars saved them rollicking from Gareth Southgate
WAYNE ROONEY further disrupted Gareth Southgate’s preparations for England’s crucial Nations League clash against Croatia with an emotional speech after his final international appearance.
The former Everton and Manchester United forward played the last 32 minutes of the 3-0 friendly win over the United States at Wembley, his 120th and last cap for his country.
Given a guard of honour before kick-off, allowed to wear the captain’s armband and the No.10 shirt, Rooney’s swansong came just three days before the Three Lions’ crucial clash with the World Cup runners-up.
Victory will see England progress to the Nations League play-offs next summer.
Plans for the Rooney fixture were only confirmed when SunSport broke the story on November 4 — 11 days before the game.
Although the promised bucket collections did not materialise, matchgoing fans were able to ‘text’ donate on the night.
Big screen publicity and a social media drive helped swell the coffers.
Signed Rooney shirts were also auctioned off on the night and are understood to have raised tens of thousands of pounds.
Brent Council were unavailable for comment.
