HOLLAND eased to a 2-0 win against France at De Kuip to leave their Uefa Nations League fate in their own hands.
Goals from Georginio Wijnaldum and Memphis Depay mean that Ronald Koeman’s side can qualify for the finals next summer should they get a point against Germany on Monday.
The Flying Dutchmen trail Les Bleus by just a point in Group A1, with their victory against the World Cup champions relegating Joachim Low’s men.
If Koeman can have any criticisms of his side, it’s the fact they should have scored at least five or six.
Wijnaldum broke the deadlock in the 44th minute for the home side, slotting into an empty net after Hugo Lloris expertly denied Ryan Babel from close range.
And Lyon winger Depay capped off a dazzling performance by rubbing salt in the wounds of the French — as he dinked his penalty over the hapless Tottenham goalkeeper in the 96th minute.
Substitute Moussa Sissoko clumsily brought down Ajax starlet Frenkie de Jong in what was a nightmare performance by the visitors.
France never got out of second gear against their Dutch opponents, with a speculative effort from right-back Benjamin Pavard the closest they came to scoring.
Antoine Griezmann, Kylian Mbappe and Olivier Giroud were all passengers for the majority of the match, as Hugo Lloris spared Didier Deschamps’ side from humiliation.
The Spurs skipper made a whopping 11 saves, including a magnificent double save to keep out full-back Denzel Dumfires in the 68th minute.
France now hope Germany – who are without a win the Uefa Nations League so far – will beat Holland to ensure their passage into the finals.
Holland dismantled Low’s men 3-0 in October, and will go into the game in Gelsenkirchen high on confidence.
