THE winner of the unclaimed £76million EuroMillions jackpot could miss out on it because of red tape.

Operator Camelot knows when and where the ticket was bought.

But rules that allow a winner to stay anonymous mean the buyer cannot be tracked down — and the owner of the newsagent where the ticket was bought cannot be told.

That also means shop CCTV showing the moment the player put in their lucky EuroMillions numbers cannot be used.

A spokesman for Camelot told The Sun: “We are not in the position of hunting someone down.

“We’ve got to protect their anonymity. We know the retailer where it was bought but the reason we can only provide a certain area is to protect the winner’s anonymity if they don’t want to go public.”

The winning ticket was bought on November 2 between Skegness and nearby Boston, Lincs.

Camelot paraded giant cheques and mock-ups of the ticket in both towns on Thursday to try and find the winner. Bosses added: “We have had no claims yet.”

The winning numbers were 5, 15, 17, 37, 44. Lucky Stars 7  and 11.
