"Many Photos" - What time do the Islanders wake up on Love Island? Plus five secrets from inside the villa

LOVE Island may be on the televison every night for two months, but there are still many things that producers try to keep hidden from us – until now.

Lucky for you we’ve been delving into some of the villa secrets – here’s what we’ve found out…

What time do the islanders wake up on Love Island?

From watching Love Island we can see that all the Islanders go to bed at the same time, with the lights going off throughout the villa at the same time.

This is also the case for when they wake up.

The Sun asked ITV what time they all went to bed and got up in the morning, and they told us that it “varies depending upon what has happened the night before” – this means if there has been a dumping from the villa the night before they may be allowed more of a lie in.

However, 2016 Islander Kady McDermott told Heat in 2017 that they DO have a set time they have to get up, she said: “The days were very long, and the producers never let us sleep in past 9:30am [because] that wasn’t entertaining.

“They used to wake us up through speakers.”

The Islanders are not aware of time at all as they do not have clocks in the villa.

What are the other secrets from the Love Island villa?

1) Alcohol is rationed

The cast are allowed around two drinks each per night to monitor their consumption.

The show encourages the Islanders to drink responsibly to avoid them doing anything they may regret.

Kady also said: “At night time we weren’t allowed a lot of alcohol.

“During the first four or five days when we didn’t know each other we had alcohol to break the ice, but then after that it was two glasses of wine a night. And we were sure it was watered down as well!”

2) Time off

According to Love Island 2017 star Kem Cetinay, the reason Love Island doesn’t air a new episode on a Saturday (instead it shows Unseen Bits) is so that the cast can “get a day off” and head to the beach.

Speaking on This Morning, he revealed that producers take the cast out of the compound to the beach for a few hours. “They get one day off a week.

“What happens is it gives them a day to clean the villa and you take your mics off and normally we go to the beach and we just chill out.

“Not a lot of people know this. What happens is when you take your mics off, you’re not allowed to talk about anything to do with the show.

3) Meal times

Ever wondered why no one cooks?

A catering station is set up in the grounds of the villa with chefs on hand to make food for the production team and the Islanders.

No wonder they don’t want to come home, we know we wouldn’t.

4) No talk of home

The Islanders are in a villa 24/7 so surely won’t be gossiping the whole time about who likes who, and who said what to who.

The time they spend talking about their families or outside lives is never shown on TV.

Instead they are encouraged to talk about life in the villa, rather than what is going on at home.

5) They get pampered

As Superdrug sponsors the show, those lucky islanders get free products to use.

They’re sent things like hair and face masks and they also get their nails done.

The boys also get their hair cut twice during their time in the villa.

What days in the week is Love Island on ITV2?

You can get your fix of the show every night on ITV2 at 9pm where the main programme, hilariously narrated by Iain Stirling, gives you the lowdown on all the goings-on in the villa – from couples cracking on to singletons getting mugged off.

Saturday night’s show differs from the rest of the week, as it is a round-up of all the best bits from the villa that week – and maybe some unseen footage.

If that’s not enough, you can also watch Caroline Flack‘s spin off show Aftersun on Sunday nights at 10pm after the main show has aired, where she discusses the latest action with celebrity guests, as well as those eliminated from the villa.
