"Many Photos" - Wednesday’s best bets: Your best bets and NAP for today’s racing at Sandown, Leicester, Bath and Lingfield from Callum Jamieson

SO we had another winner on Monday to take the monthly P&L above a remarkable 45 points.

But I’m not counting my chickens and know what this game can be like. On a busy enough Wednesday I’ve found a couple of bets.

Wednesday racing tips

First up, we shoot down the M25 to leafy Lingfield where I like one for the reinvigorated Amanda Perrett stable.

ZUBA (Lingfield, 3.20) looks worth an each-way poke in this mile-and-a-half handicap.

He’s a horse I’ve had on my radar for a while and after the sluggish start to the season from the Perrett stable, they are starting to make up for lost time to an extent.

This son of Dubawi was a very expensive buy for this team and has shown plenty of promise at times, but also thrown in a few horror shows.

June: +19.73pts

July: +45.19pts

He got off the mark on his third start, with a solid win on the all weather, before a good third to Private Secretary in a hot handicap at Sandown.

He then put in a complete no show at Newbury on really soft ground, and I;m happy to forgive that now, as mentioned, the Perrett team have begun entering the winners’ enclosure.

The early prices seem somewhat generous, and I doubt he’ll go off a double figure price, but should be an each-way play with a few likely to take some chunks out of the market.

Distant Chimes is the obvious one to beat, but drawn in stall 11 and running only a week after his first win, I can take him on at short odds.

Wednesday Bets...

3.20 Lingfield – ZUBA 0.5pt ew (Bet now)

6.10 Leicester – REAL SMOOTH 1pt win (Bet now)

On the draw, my fancy doesn’t have the ideal one himself, but given the mile-and-a-half trip, Jim Crowley has plenty of time to get himself sorted.

My overall thinking is that he’s just way over-priced in this and if he can repeat his Sandown run – for which he is off the same mark – he should go very, very close here.

Next up we fly up the M1 to Leicester and a Richard Hannon runner making his handicap debut.

REAL SMOOTH (Leicester, 6.10) should finally break his maiden tag in this six-runner sprint.

He’s been a tricky horse to trust, but now back at seven furlongs looks ready to strike off what I believe is a fairly generous opening mark of 77.

He gets plenty of weight from the older horses and he has shaped like this trip will be spot on when falling short in a good race over a mile at Newmarket, before being out-paced over six at Lingfield.

In between those efforts, he stayed on behind a useful rival over six and everything points to this seven furlongs being ideal with Tom Marquand back in the driving seat.

A few of his older rivals come into this in decent form, but the handicapper looks to have a couple of them covered now, while Keepup Kevin has done all his winning at the unique Beverley.

Hannon has done okay with his runners at Leicester this season and although a touch of risk always comes with backing a horse that has picked up the worst habit of all – finishing second – I think this guy has a bit more to offer, and we can’t write him off just yet.

Good luck.
