"Many Photos" - Tupac superfan, 66, forced to quit government job after constantly emailing lyrics to 4,300 staff over two years

A TUPAC superfan was forced out of his US government job after sending emails containing the rapper’s lyrics to 4,300 staff.

Jerry Foxhoven, 66, spent two years as head of Iowa’s social services agency – during which he often messaged employees about the slain star.

Foxhaven also hosted “Tupac Fridays” in his office where he would play Tupac’s songs – and even celebrated his 65th birthday with Tupac-themed cookies.

Some staffers at the agency thanked Foxhaven for the notes and praised him for the positive attitude his Tupac emails brought to the stressful workplace.

Employee Lisa Bender wrote in an email seen by Associated Press: “I love your 2pac messages … and the fact that you still send them (despite the haters) makes me appreciate them even more.”

But at least one employee complained to state lawmakers about the hip-hop messages last year.

EMAILS 4,300 STAFF

Then, last month, Foxhaven sent an agency-wide email telling all 4,300 Department of Human Services workers to celebrate Tupac’s birthday over a weekend.

Iowa governor Kim Reynolds told him to resign from his post his next scheduled work day on June 17.

A spokesman for the governor initially wouldn’t confirm or deny that Foxhoven’s email figured into her surprise request for his resignation.

Spokesman Pat Garrett said: “As the governor has said, a lot of factors contributed to the resignation of Jerry Foxhoven and now Gov. Reynolds is looking forward to taking DHS in a new direction.”

Mr Garrett later told the Des Moines Register on Thursday that “of course” Foxhoven’s love for the rapper didn’t factor into his dismissal.

Foxhaven himself said Reynolds decided to “go in a different direction” with the agency and doubts his emails had any influence on the decision.

Slain star: Who was Tupac Shakur?

TUPAC Shakur was one of the most successful rappers of all time.

Born Lesane Parish Crooks on June 16, 1971, he was the son of a former Black Panther activist Afeni Shakur.

He later became known to his fans as Tupac – or 2Pac.

Hailing from Harlem, New York, the rap star’s All Eyez On Me and his Greatest Hits are among the best selling albums in the US.

The artist, who has sold more than 75million records, consistently tops the polls as one of the greatest of all time.

But he became embroiled in the East Coast-West Coast hip-hop feud, involving New York’s Bad Boy Records and the Los Angeles-based Death Row Records.

On the night of September 7, 1996, Tupac was gunned down in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas as he headed to a gig at Club 662.

Death Row Records boss Suge Knight was driving the car and 2Pac was a front seat passenger as they led a convoy.

A shooter in a white Cadillac, which pulled up on the right-hand passenger side of Tupac’s BMW at traffic lights, opened fire at 11.15pm.

The star was hit four times – in the chest, arm and thigh – and died six days later.

His killer has been claimed to be be gang member Orlando “Baby Lane” Anderson.

Despite this, rumours still persist that Tupac is still alive and in hiding – although many theories have been proven to be hoaxes.
