"Many Photos" - Theresa May offers sacked adviser Roger Scruton his job back after he was stitched up by leftie mob

THERESA May has offered sacked academic Sir Roger Scruton his old job back after he was stitched up by lefties.

The outgoing PM has reportedly invited Sir Roger, 75, to return to working as an adviser to minister on how to build better homes.

The conservative philosopher was booted from his role by Housing Secretary James Brokenshire earlier this year after a magazine interview picked some of his quotes and took them out of context.

Comments that were allegedly offensive and anti-Semitic were used in the New Statesman without proper context.

One mentioned a “[George] Soros empire in Hungary” – referring to the Jewish investor in a trope often used by anti-Semites to imply Jews controlling the world.

He was sacked within hours of the interview being published after a number of Tory MPs called for him to go.

But they omitted a quote which added: “It’s not necessarily an empire of Jews – that’s such nonsense”.

The magazine also quoted him as saying “each Chinese person is kind of a replica of the next one”.

But they didn’t explain he meant the Chinese Communist Party, not Chinese people themselves.

The New Statesman has admitted the coverage “did not accurately represent Sir Roger’s views” and has apologised.

Tory MPs who called for him to be sacked later backtracked on their words and said the magazine interview had taken his words out of contest.

Sir Roger said afterwards he had been “demonised” and No10 had “disowned him” after the row.

And Mr Brokenshire later apologised publicly to him, saying: “I regret that the decision to remove you from your leadership role was taken in the way that it was.

“I am sorry – especially as it was based on a clearly partial report of your thoughts.”
