A GLOVE which allows people to feel virtual reality objects has been unveiled.

Scientists say the mitt could revolutionise online gaming and even porn.

The lightweight glove will use pressure to simulate touch rather than vibration[/caption]

The lightweight silicon device uses pressure from finger sensors to imitate the physical sensation of handling, prodding or stroking CGI objects.

Using the glove will boost gaming and take the likes of virtual reality surgery and porn to new levels of realism within a few years.

Wearers can interpret the size and shape of an ‘object’ even though it’s purely a computer generated simulation.

There are already virtual reality gloves available but these are often bulky and rely on vibration rather than pressure to simulate the sensation of touch.

South Korean inventor Dr Youngsu Cha said: “Although previously developed actuators were able to accurately reproduce the texture of virtual objects, they could not provide information about their shape.

“Ours is lightweight – enabling the wearer to feel the actual shape of an array of virtual objects.”

The glove was tested in a virtual chess board program where users successfully picked up the digital chess pieces.

Dr Cha, of the Korea Institute of Science and Technology, Seoul, says it should be on the high street “within a few years.”
