THE model accused of murdering her two children to make time for sex work joked: “I had two, now down to one” before the death of her second child.
Louise Porton, 23, from Rugby denies killling three-year-old Lexi Draper and 16-month-old Scarlett Vaughan two weeks later.
Reacting to the text, prosecutor Oliver Saxby QC said that was “quite a casual way of putting it.”
He also read a text from her sister Karen which accuses Porton of considering meeting with men for sex just days after Lexi’s tragic death.
Karen told Porton that she was coming across as “emotionless” and “heartless” after the death of her oldest daughter.
The mum-of-two tells Karen that it was “just a front”, to which Karen replied: “put Scarlett first.”
But Karen did say that Porton was a “good mother” and cared “very much” about her children.
But 16-month-old Scarlett died two weeks later.
The jury also heard she had sent a message to her sister saying she was “…gonna given them both sleeping tablets haha”.
But she told the court she had not been serious about it.
‘EMOTIONLESS’
Paramedics pronounced Lexi dead at the family home on January 15 2018 and then her little sister Scarlett died two weeks later on the night of February 1.
During the fourth week of her trial at Birmingham Crown Court, Porton denied doing anything to cause Lexi to have a fit before the toddler’s death in January last year.
Mr Saxby said that both girls died of “deliberate airway obstruction” and that Porton was responsible.
He said that she killed them because they “got in the way of doing what she wanted, when she wanted and with who she wanted.”
The jury heard that Porton sent provocative and sexual images of herself to a man from a hospital toilet as one of her daughters lay in hospital.
Porton said she would receive money for sending him saucy snaps and had asked for payment because she had not received her benefits.
She also exchanged a series of messages with a hospital security guard she met at the during Lexi’s stay.
Giving evidence, Porton told jurors: “I was having pictures taken of me. I would do that a few times a month. It was paid work.
I had agreed with him to engage in sexual activity during the photo-shoot in exchange for money whilst I was in hospital with Lexi.

“I also sold the photos through my phone. It was done by myself. I made those arrangements through an online site.
“I had agreed with him to engage in sexual activity during the photo-shoot in exchange for money whilst I was in hospital with Lexi.
“Lexi was on the bed asleep whilst I was exchanging the messages, I was worried about her. I generally felt upset about Lexi.”
The part-time model, formerly of Beechwood Court, Rugby, Warwickshire, is alleged to have been “calm and emotionless” following the death of her younger child less than three weeks later.
Asked by defence barrister Andrew Smith QC what she had enjoyed most about being a parent, Porton said of her daughters: “They were always giving me something to do – they were funny, always making me laugh.”
Mr Saxby said: “At times, her two children got in the way of her doing what she wanted, when she wanted and with whom she wanted.
“Putting it simply, and I hope neutrally, this wasn’t a life in which caring for her two young children – indeed, having two young children to care for – always easily fitted.”
