And Michael Caine and his wife Shakira appeared as united as ever as they strolled hand-in-hand after dining out at swanky eatery Scott's in Mayfair on Wednesday.

The Italian Job actor, 86, looked dapper in a pale blue shirt and navy trousers as he made his way out into central London alongside his longtime love.

Shakira looked glamorous in a chic black dress which she styled with a cream shawl and a chunky statement necklace in a similar hue.

She added height to her frame with a pair of black strappy heels, while toting her belongings in a glitzy black bag which was covered in sparkles.

The actress maximised her glamorous look by opting for a perfectly applied coat of make-up, including a glossy red lip.

Michael is still using the assistance of a cane after suffering an ankle injury last year following a nasty slip on ice. 

'Michael slipped and broke his ankle in his garden during the recent heavy snow,' his spokesperson told The Mirror at the time. 'He is in fine health and great spirits.'

In July, he told TimeOut: ‘It’s coming along fine. It’s just tremendous inconvenience.'

Meanwhile, last month the legendary British actor revealed how he met the love of his life after seeing her star in a coffee commercial.

'I was at home and this commercial came on, for Maxwell House coffee. And there was this beautiful Brazilian girl,' he told Andrew Denton's Interview.

'I said to my mate "we're going to Brazil tomorrow - I have plenty of money, we're going to find her.''

Much to the actor's surprise, though, was the fact his dream woman was not on the other side of the world but instead a stone's throw away from where he was living.

'I got all excited and said let's go down to the tavern to have a drink and this other guy comes in.

'He said "we made that commercial - she's not in Brazil, she's on the Fulham Road" which is about a mile away from me.'

The 83-year-old told Andrew he called his future bride 11 times before she agreed to go out with him.

'If she had said no (on their date) I'd decided - forget it,' he said, adding that the happiest years of his life have been, 'the last 46' while married to Shakira. 

Michael married Shakira in 1973 and they have one daughter together, Natasha, 42. 

The Italian Job star also has another daughter, Dominique, who he had with his previous wife, actress Patricia Haines.   

Michael Caine has also told in recent years how he and Shakira cracked the code for an enduring marriage in Hollywood.

'In this business, you're surrounded by beautiful women - but I've got one at home,' he said. 'I've got one of the most beautiful ones I've ever seen, so I've never been tempted to stray.'
