HARRY MAGUIRE is a step closer to joining Manchester United after latest reports indicated an agreement over an £80million transfer.

Leicester City have put up a strong defence of their star man but appear to finally be ready to accept his wish to leave.

According to Bleacher Report, the terms for Maguire’s £80m switch are agreed.

Manchester City were still keeping an eye on the centre-back but latest rumours named Eliaquim Mangala and Nicolas Otamendi as two men that had to be sold before he could be purchased.

That delay has let United steal the momentum and push on with their swoop.

Sun Sport revealed during the week that Maguire wanted to emulate his Old Trafford idols.

And he even believes he has what it takes to one day take the armband.

Paul Pogba is a surprise candidate for that role, currently unoccupied after Antonio Valencia left last month.

On Saturday, Brendan Rodgers asserted that there was no change in Leicester’s stance on the deal.

The Foxes boss said: “There’s still time to go. You never know what happens with all the players but at this moment in time, this is a top-class player who will cost another club a lot of money.

“Thankfully we’re in a position where we don’t have to sell.

“We don’t want to sell him. He’s a really special player. He fits how we work fantastically well.”
