"Many Photos" - Love Island bosses ‘fix the show based on who they want to win’, claims former employee

LOVE Island bosses “fix the show based on who they want to win”, says a former ITV2 employee.

The anonymous person took part in a Reddit Q&A claiming to be a producer from last year’s show, with their identity said to have been confirmed by moderators for the site.

In the resurfaced chat, it was said that show bosses pull all of the strings inside the villa, with the employee calling the popular programme “constructed reality at its finest”.

When asked if showrunners “manipulate the show based on who they want to win”, the insider bluntly said: “Yeah, absolutely.”

They then added that they incorporate shock twists and orchestrate dumpings to benefit their “favourite couples”.

They explained: “They’re deciding who makes best TV, who is the most frustrating to work with and such things.

“It’s not just one person saying ‘oh no I like them’.”

The comments come after the show faced backlash last week when fans accused bosses of fixing a dumping to get rid of Joanna so that Michael could crack on with former flame Amber.

Other fans asked if the show was scripted, and the source said that a lot of the time Islanders are asked to have specific conversations “to give the viewer a better experience”.

The ex-employee also had some scathing words about some of last year’s contestants, saying that Georgia Steel “was so annoying and demanding of attention from everyone including producers”.

They added that Laura Anderson wouldn’t have got to the final if fans saw how “annoying” she was, and that Dr. Alex George was “just s**t”, adding: “He was given everything and offered nothing”.

However, they were full of praise for Megan Barton-Hanson, saying that she has a “lovely, vulnerable side that didn’t get shown” and “Really likeable. She was so insecure and vulnerable and was genuinely sweet.”

When contacted about the individual’s comments by The Sun Online, a rep for Love Island said: “As anyone who watches the show regularly would know, Love Island is a combination of reality and produced elements that are reflective of what’s happening in the villa, and is a fair and accurate representation of villa life.

“We have always been completely transparent about this and the way the show is produced. This is often acknowledged in the voice over by Iain Stirling. The opinions they have and the relationships formed are completely within the control of the Islanders themselves.

“As we have said since series one, Love Island is a combination of reality and produced elements.”
