Matty Barton is hurt this week on Emmerdale when he finds out about supposed best-friend Victoria Sugden’s plan to leave the village.
Victoria – who is pregnant with rapist Lee Posner’s baby – is heading down to Cornwall with her step-mum Diane Sugden for a fresh start.
It’s Amy Wyatt who tells Matty – Ash Palmisciano – that Victoria is planning on moving away and he’s gutted to have been kept in the dark about her plan.
Matty – who is out to impress his new mates, who are proper ‘lads’ – shames her for not telling him, before heading off to spend some time with his new friends.
The next day Matty and Victoria – who’s played by Isabel Hodgins on the soap – cross paths again and she’s left devastated when he ignores all her attempts to get him to forgive her.
Is their friendship really over for good?
Matty and Victoria have been through a lot together over the years and their friendship has endured some pretty tough tests.
Victoria bullied Matty back in their school days when he was known as Hannah. But they eventually put the past behind them and became friends before Hannah left the village to live in London with her sister, Holly.
When the pair crossed paths again, Victoria was shocked to find someone had been sleeping in her van. She was even more shocked to see it was Hannah, who had now transitioned and told Vic he was now called Matty.
It didn’t take long for them to bond again, especially when Matty’s mum, Moira Barton, went through a hard time accepting his transition.
In fact, there was something of a spark between the two at one point and it looked like they were going to have a relationship. Matty turned Victoria down initially, despite clearly having feelings for her.

Vic was left feeling humiliated and went on a bit of a bender, hooking up with newcomer Ellis Chapman.
They sorted things out again and eventually gave into their feelings, having a big ole songfest, which Moira walked in on. She was raging as Vic was still technically married to Matty’s brother Adam.
