AMANDA Holden auditioned in her underwear to be a Bond girl, it was revealed yesterday.

The BGT beauty, 48, stripped off for a mock sword fight in a bid to play the leading lady alongside Pierce Brosnan in the 2002 film Die Another Day.

A source who worked on the movie told the Mail On Sunday: “Amanda Holden auditioned for the role and was very good.

“But the producers wound up choosing Rosamund, who went on to become a massive movie star.

“I wonder if Amanda thinks about what might have been?

“She gets to sit alongside Simon Cowell but it’s not quite the same as getting to jump into bed with James Bond, is it?

“Amanda’s been very successful but every actress dreams of playing a Bond girl, and who knows where it might have taken her career?”

Confirming her audition, Heart radio presenter Amanda said: “I think it would be brilliant for Bond to have an equivalent female sidekick roughly the same age.

“I’m not sure how I’d fit a film into my schedule but I’d be more than happy to revisit Pinewood Studios and do a sword fight in my pants again!”

The role was then-23-year-old Rosamund Pike’s first major movie performances.

She has since gone on to movie stardom – including a role in the hit 2014 thriller Gone Girl.

Last year, Rosamund revealed how she refused to strip to her underwear for the Bond audition when she was 21.
