EUROPA LEAGUE matches are often played on Thursday nights, while the Champions League takes precedence on Tuesday and Wednesday.
But this week, Fenerbahce will take on Zenit St Petersburg two days early – and here is why?
Why is there a Europa League game on Tuesday?
Fenerbahce will play Zenit on Tuesday, February 12 – kicking off at 5.55pm.
The match will be played on this unusual date due to Fenerbahce’s fierce rivals Galatasaray hosting Benfica on Thursday.
The trend continues the following week, as Sevilla and Lazio face off in their second leg clash on a Wednesday ahead of Betis’ Thursday game against Rennes.
