"Many Photos" - BAFTA 2019 red carpet: Rachel Weisz and Amy Adams lead stars

Rachel Weisz, Amy Adams and Margot Robbie led the glamour at the 72nd annual EE British Academy Film Awards at London's Royal Albert Hall on Sunday evening.

Up for the role of Best Actress in a Supporting Role, Rachel wowed in a cream coloured tulle layered dress which cinched in her tiny waist with a dazzling silver belt.

Toting her belongings in a shiny gold clutch, Weisz, 48, worked the red carpet in the sensational number which boasted an eye-catching frothy neckline.

Rachel looked much younger than her years as she sported her dark chocolate brown tresses slicked behind her ears, while her features were enhanced with rosy blusher and deep pink gloss.

Injecting some of her Hollywood glamour onto the red carpet, Amy, 44, worked her magic in a sensational form-fitting deep burgundy gown.

The star, who is up for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her role in Vice, dazzled in the low-cut number which was lined with an embellished brooch and put focus on her sensational front.

Amy had her dark fiery locks slicked back into a centre parted ponytail and she complemented her youthful features with a pair of striking drop earrings.

Margot certainly made a statement on the red carpet in an incredible monochrome number which featured an embellished body.

The defining feature of the garment proved to be the ruffled black shoulder detailing and matching hemline which showed a peek of her strappy heels.

Stunning in an ethereal ruffled dress, Lucy, 25, looked flawless as she worked her angles on the red carpet while sporting an eye-catching hair and make-up look.

Lucy, who is dating her Bohemian Rhapsody co-star Rami Malek had her short blonde locks pinned back on both sides while stunning in the earth-toned number which features a striking bow.

Eleanor Tomlinson showed off her style credentials in a sensational baby pink number which featured an asymmetrical neckline, complete with a statement bow.

Meanwhile, Edith wore a slinky, shimmering number that cascaded down her lithe frame, flashing a hint of her midriff, a halterneck design at the top of the dress.

The dress was designed in a silver and clay-pink tone, showcasing her lean arms - with the former Survival Of The Fittest star complimenting the look with a natural palette of make-up.

She swept her blonde locks back behind her shoulders in a slick 'do.

Edith Bowman sported a quirky ensemble: a pink floor-length floral dress, complete with white lacy neck ruff.

She added a pearly queen inspired vest over the top of the dress, embroidered with a red and white bouquet of flowers.

The ruffled lacy detailing continued to her sleeves and to the hem of the dress, which fell down the floor of the red carpet.

The event is being held at the Royal Albert Hall for the third year in a row, after the move from the Royal Opera House.

Joanna Lumley is hosting for a second time after impressing last year in place of Stephen Fry while Cirque de Soleil will also be back with another performance after their 2018 tribute to Guillermo del Toro’s The Shape of Water.

Yorgos Lanthimos’ The Favourite has swept the nominations with 12 nods in top categories including a Best Actress chance for its star Olivia Colman, Supporting Actress nominations for Emma Stone and Rachel Weisz and a shot at Best Film.

The Favourite will compete with A Star Is Born, BlacKkKlansman, Green Book and Roma for Best Film but surprisingly, after its success at last month's Golden Globes, Bohemian Rhapsody was snubbed in the category.

The Favourite is nominated in 12 categories. Bohemian Rhapsody, First Man, Roma and A Star Is Born each have seven nominations; Vice has six, BlacKkKlansman has five, and Cold War and Green Book have four each. Can You Ever Forgive Me?, Mary Poppins Returns, Mary Queen of Scots and Stan & Ollie have three nominations each.

The 2019 nod marks Olivia's sixth BAFTA nomination but her first for a film role after previously winning for TV hits Twenty Twelve, Accused and Broadchurch.

Olivia competes against Glenn Close for The Wife, Lady Gaga for A Star Is Born, Melissa McCarthy for Can You Ever Forgive Me?' and Widows star Viola Davis, but in another shock snub, Mary Poppins Returns lead Emily Blunt has missed out on a nomination.

In fact, Mary Poppins Returns only received nominations in the technical categories for BAFTA, with three nods in total for Best Film Music, Best Production Design and Best Costume Design.

Olivia's chances at scoring her first film BAFTA have only increased after she took home the Best Actress Motion Picture - Musical Or Comedy for The Favourite at the Golden Globes.

Olivia's critically-acclaimed film was released last month and follows the love triangle Queen Anne forms with two of her female courtiers, played by Emma and Rachel, who are both nominated in the Best Supporting Actress Category.

The Favourite is also nominated for Outstanding British Film, Original Screenplay, Cinematography, Production Design, Costume Design, Make Up & Hair, Editing and Yorgos Lanthimos for Director.

Bohemian Rhapsody could build on its surprise success at the Golden Globes with its seven BAFTA nominations, but it has missed out on chance at the Best Film prize.

The Queen biopic provided the biggest shock of the 2019 Golden Globes when it beat favourite A Star is Born to take home the Best Motion Picture Drama prize, which followed a win for leading man Rami Malek.

Rami is nominated for the BAFTA Leading Actor where he will again compete against A Star Is Born's Bradley Cooper as well as Viggo Mortensen and British actors Christian Bale and Steve Coogan.

Bale is the favourite to take home Leading Actor for his incredible transformation into Dick Cheney for Vice.

A Star Is Born has scored the same number of BAFTA nominations as its rival Bohemian Rhapsody, with seven chances. As well as its Best Actor nod for Bradley, who also receives a nomination for Direction, Lady Gaga is nominated for Leading Actress.

The singer will again compete with Glenn Close for The Wife, who beat her in another surprise Golden Globes result. Melissa McCarthy and Viola Davis along with Colman make up the category.

The bookies favourites Glenn, Gaga and Olivia will go head to head at the BAFTAs as unlike the Golden Globes, there are not separate acting categories for drama, musical or comedy.

Also receiving seven nominations is Alfonso Cuarón's Roma which is nominated for Best Film, Film Not in the English Language, Director, Original Screenplay, Cinematography, Production Design and Editing.

Cuaron will be a tough competitor in the Direction category, after winning best director honours at the Golden Globes for his ode to his own childhood in 1970s Mexico City.

First Man also joins the seven nominations club with nods for Adapted Screenplay, Cinematography, Editing, Production Design, Sound, and Special Visual Effects, as well as Supporting Actress for Claire Foy.

British talent Claire, who plays Neil Armstrong's wife in the moon landings biopic, will compete with The Favourite's Emma Stone and Rachel Weisz, Margot Robbie for Mary Queen of Scots and Amy Adams for Vice.

Supporting Actor also includes big names with Adam Driver for BlacKkKlansman competing against the Golden Globe winner Mahershala Ali for Green Book as well as Richard E. Grant for Can You Ever Forgive Me?, Vice star Sam Rockwell and Timothee Chalamet for Beautiful Boy.
