MANCHESTER UNITED and Arsenal are preparing to be involved in a bidding war for a young Brazilian goalkeeper, according to reports.
Gabriel Brazao is hotly tipped to follow in the footsteps of his countrymen Ederson at Manchester City and Alisson at Liverpool as the next South American star ‘keeper in the Premier League.
The 18-year-old currently plays for Cruzeiro and is said to be attracting transfer interest from Serie A clubs Inter Milan and Roma.
And now United and Arsenal are gearing up to make bids in the range of £3 million to bring the young man to England, according to website Teamtalk.
The Old Trafford side are looking to improve their options between the sticks with the future of David De Gea still not certain – in spite of his contract extension until 2020.
Arsenal are also looking to the future and see the young man as a long-term replacement to Petr Cech who now looks likely to leave the club in summer.

At 6’3” Brazao is an imposing figure who already has a series of excellent saves under his belt – some of which saw him awarded the Golden Glove at the 2017 U17 World Cup, won by England.
Yet to appear for Cruzeiro’s senior side this season, he helped their U20 team win their state championship late last year.
The young player has seen his path to the first team blocked by Fabio, a goalkeeping legend at the Belo Horizonte-based club who has made nearly 800 appearances for them.
He has plenty of faith in his own abilities, though, telling the Outside of the Boot website: “Independently of the player’s age, if he has enough quality to perform well, he has to be in the starting XI.”
Brazao also revealed in the same interview that the teams he likes to utilise when playing FIFA are Real Madrid, Juventus, Braga and… Manchester United.
He does have experience of Arsenal’s home ground, though – he was on the bench when Brazil beat Uruguay 1-0 in a friendly at the Emirates Stadium in November.
