THE Copa America has almost arrived as the likes of hosts Brazil and Lionel Messi’s Argentina discover their group stage opponents.

South America’s ten football nations will be joined at the competition in Brazil by special guests Qatar and Japan.

When is the Copa America draw?

The Copa America draw will be held on Thursday, January 24 at the Cidade des Artes complex in Rio de Janeiro.

It will get underway at 8.30pm local time – 10.30pm in the UK and 5.30pm Eastern time.

What TV channel is the Copa America draw on?

No English language TV channel currently has the rights for the Copa America in the UK or the US.

However, Telemundo have purchased the Spanish-language rights to broadcast the tournament in the United States.

American viewers can tune into Telemundo to watch the draw at 5.30pm Eastern time on the channel, or live stream it on the  Telemundo Deportes App, NBC Sports App, and TelemundoDeportes.com.

There will also be a special edition of special edition of “Titulares y Más: Fiesta del Sorteo” (Draw Viewing Party) at 5.25pm Eastern time.

This can be viewed on the Telemundo Deportes App, or the network’s Facebook, YouTube and Twitter pages.

How does the Copa America draw work?

Copa America teams will be divided into four pots of three teams ahead of the draw.

The 12 competing nations will then be separated into three groups, with the top two from each group and the best placed third place teams advancing to quarter-finals.

Hosts Brazil have been automatically pre-drawn into Group A.
