JON JONES claims he will never rematch Daniel Cormier at heavyweight, after suggestions the rivals could finish their trilogy at the weight.
Jones, 31, has twice defeated his greatest rival firstly in 2015 and then two years later at UFC 217.
However, after a disputed failed drug test, Jones saw his second victory reverted to a no-contest – while he also lost the light-heavyweight title he had claimed that night.
Jones has twice been stripped of his light-heavyweight title, only to see Cormier pick up the strap, while DC has also since claimed the gold at heavyweight.
With their rivalry clearly not concluded, a trilogy fight for Cormier’s heavyweight title was suggested – but ‘Bones’ told MMAFighting isn’t interested.
Jones said: “He looks good at heavyweight, he’s designed to be a heavyweight. He’s comfortable there.

“He naturally goes to heavyweight between every fight. That is his spot, and like I said, he makes a great heavyweight champion.
“Even before fighting me, he was on a tear at heavyweight. . I have no reason to challenge him at heavyweight, because for me it’s not personal.
“When he comes down to light-heavyweight, it’ll be personal again. And he can have what he has, I’ll have what I have, and that’s being the most dominant light heavyweight champion, the only light heavyweight champion since 2011.”
Jones once again challenges for the UFC light-heavyweight title tonight when he takes on former opponent Alexander Gustafsson, 31, – who he beat in a 2013 classic.
The pair will be fighting for Cormier’s title yet the UFC hadn’t stripped DC of his gold – meaning 39-year-old would officially be champion until the first bell between Jones vs Gustafsson rung.
Cormier had other ideas, though, as he decided to personally relinquish his title – but Jones claims he was never the real champion anyway.
Jones added: “I heard that he ended up relinquishing his belt, and I think that’s a good look. But at the end of the day, I know most people know that he never was the champion.
“Hats off to him for being the heavyweight champion of the world, but I’ve been the light heavyweight champion since 2011.
“That’s just facts. That’s just facts. The belt was given to him. He has not beaten me. So, he can cancel all doubts by challenging me and really being a legit champ champ.”
