NETFLIX has revealed the first trailer for Medici: The Magnificent – the follow up to its hit period drama which toldthe story of the Medici’s family and their rise to renaissance power in Florence.
The series will see the family 20 years after the 2016 instalment starring Richard Madden and will follow Lorenzo The Magnificent’s son, Lorenzo as he tries to regain leadership of the family run bank.
Following an attempt on Piero de Medici’s life (Alessandro Sperduti), his son Lorenzo is forced to assume leadership of the family-run bank
In the trailer, Lorenzo, played by Daniel Sharman, seems determined to save the bank and later gets named The Magnificent after his father, as he regains power of the city.
Although, he is soon met with an obstacle in the shape of Jacopo Pazzi (Sean Bean), who is from another powerful banking family.
Jacopo and Lorenzo appear to be at loggerheads throughout the clip, as the action ramps up and they continue to fight for control of 15th century Florence.
The action paves the way for the telling of the true story of the Pazzi family conspiracy, where members plotted to become rulers of Florence.
Other notable cast members that have been announced for the new series include, Sarah Parrish, Bradley James, Alessandra Mastronardi, Synnøve Karslen, Raoul Bova and Julian Sands.

Fans of the show, will be delighted by the action, as the first series, Medici: Masters of Florence, set the scene by showing the family’s rise to power, with Giovanni (Dustin Hoffman) and his son Cosimo (Richard Madden) as heads of the banking empire.
Direction of the series was divided between Jon Cassar and Jan Maria Michelini, former director of the first series and a new young Italian director making his international debut.
Comprised of eight episodes, the new instalment of the historical drama that has been produced by Lux Vide, will launch on Netflix in the U.S. and the UK on the Friday 25th January 2019.
