BRITISH spies are closing in on ISIS “White Widow” Samantha Lewthwaite – the world’s most wanted woman.
New information suggests the terror mastermind is hiding out in Yemen, and has had plastic surgery in an attempt to avoid detection.
The Mirror reports that the British security services made a breakthrough in the search after the woman was linked to atrocities in Kenya and Somalia.
Lewthwaite’s upbringing was a world away from global terrorism. growing up in Aylesbury in central England, but she has since been linked to 400 killings.
She is the daughter of a British soldier and widow of a 7/7 suicide bomber.
She had been on international watch lists since she was linked to the 2013 Westgate Mall attack in Kenya, which left 71 people dead, and has reportedly masterminded several other attacks in east Africa.
A source close to the hunt told The Mirror: “She remains our No1 target and we believe the net is finally closing in. We will get her.”
She is believed to be under the protection of a network of fighters from the militant group Al-Shabaab.
The Mirror reported that Lewthwaite has recently visited Dubai, and is plotting a string of new terror attacks, including in London.
The latest intelligence reportedly comes from an MI6 officer in Nairobi, Kenya, who turned a source close to the 35-year-old.
A source said: “Yemen is a hotbed for Al-Shabaab recruitment and its chaotic political situation gives an advantage to on-the-run terrorists like her.”
Lewthwaite was married to 7/7 bomber Germaine Lindsay, who killed 27 people on London’s Tube.
Security chiefs believe Lewthwaite was also involved in the murders of 148 people by gunmen at a university in 2015.

In Yemen, she is understood to have recruited female suicide bombers with bribes of £300 – a fortune to desperate families.
She is also accused of pumping young men full of heroin, before sending them on suicidal bombing missions.
Last year it was claimed that she was recruiting an “army of white women” to attack Britain after spooks intercepted dozens of encrypted messages and phone calls.
