DAVID Walliams and Julian Clary has lead the tributes to June Whitfield after the Absolutely Fabulous actress passed away aged 93.
June’s agent confirmed the sad news this evening and the celebrity tributes quickly poured in.
Comedian Julian Clary, who worked with June on a number of occasions, shared the news of her death and added: “God bless. How I adored her.”
Britain’s Got Talent judge David also took to Twitter to write: “#JuneWhitfield ‘s incredible career in British comedy stretched all the way from ‘Hancock’s Half Hour’ to ‘Absolutely Fabulous’.
“She was always there, always being brilliant. @ferrifrump wrote June one of the funniest lines in television history…”
Impressionist Rory Bremner tweeted: “RIP June Whitfield- go-to comedy actress for 3 generations, from 60s radio to 70s, 80s, even 90s TV. Always graceful & elegant with a real comic glint in her eye & (absolutely) fabulous timing.”
Jenny Eclair added: “Beautiful, funny June Whitfield- a friendly Goddess.”
Dancing on Ice judge Jason Gardiner shared a picture of June and tweeted: “RIP Dame June Whitfield. You hold such a dear place in my heart. #AbsolutelyFabulous.”
Meanwhile Emmerdale actress Michelle Hardwick wrote: “Sad to read the passing of Dame June Whitfield. A wonderful talent, proud to have worked with her on The Royal. RIP.”
June is perhaps best known for her part in Absolutely Fabulous, in which she played the character of Eddie’s mother alongside Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley.
Her career spanned from 1953, when she got her first big break in comedy Take It From Here.
Other notable appearances included in a number of Carry On films.

June’s impact went way beyond her fellow comedy stars and actors, as former footballer Stan Collymore also posted a touching tribute to her.
He tweeted: “Rest in peace, Dame June Whitfield. Lucky enough to chat with her many years ago. Loved the Crazy Gang of Wimbledon and loved her football.
“Another part of the patchwork of being a child of the 80’s, gone. Rest in peace, Dame June.”
