New photo Chris Evans CONFIRMS he will compete on next year's Strictly Come Dancing

Chris Evans has confirmed he will compete on the 2019 series of Strictly Come Dancing.

The radio host, 52, revealed he will battle for the Glitterball trophy next year on Wednesday's episode of The One Show.

Host Alex Jones said: 'If rumours are to be believed you won't have time to do panto next year. Can you confirm or deny that you'll be on Strictly?'

Chris instantly admitted: 'Well, I have said yes.

'Probably only because my wife (Natasha Shishmanian) would like to go every week.

'You'd know because you get a pair of tickets don't you.

'So you and my wife can go and have a great time and I will be terrified backstage.'

Matt Baker added: 'You're making a bid for the final if you think you'll be there every week.'

A whimsical Chris responded: 'No, no no! Hang on a minute, you get a pair of tickets every week anyhow don't you?

'Look it's not about me it's about Tash getting in with Al and some of her other friends.'

Matt added: 'Well, can we be the first to wish you good luck.'

The TV icon said he hadn't yet signed on the dotted line but had said yes to the show's producer.

This year's series was won by documentary filmmaker Stacey Dooley and her dance partner Kevin Clifton.

Reaching the final was vlogger Joe Sugg, singer Faye Tozer and dancer Ashley Roberts.

This comes days after Alan Carr confirmed he's in talks with show bosses to join the line-up for the series.

During an interview on Tuesday's edition of Loose Women, the comedian, 42, claimed BBC executives 'cornered' him but admitted he has a busy schedule in the coming months.

Speaking on his plans to follow in their footsteps, presenter Alan shared: 'Well, I will do it but next year I’ve got a busy year.

'They cornered me and said, “would you do it?”, but I hate those VTs where they go to a museum or a zoo or whatever. I want to be in the studio and do the Argentine tango!', he joked.

Alan's appearance comes after The Sun reported he was offered to take part in the 2019 dance series.

The insider told the publication: 'Alan has met with the bosses and they all hit it off straight away.

'He’s a perfect celebrity for Strictly because he’s popular, funny and throws himself into everything — but has never had a day’s dance training in his life.

'What’s certain is he won’t hold back.'

It comes after presenter Tess Daly recently revealed bosses were already approaching celebrities to take part in next year's series, adding she had heard some people were already confirmed.

One of Britain's most popular comedians, Alan became well-known for hosting The Friday Night Project with Justin Lee Collins.

This was followed by his Channel 4 series, Alan Carr: Chatty Man which ran from 2009 to 2016.
