ALL eyes were on Eden Hazard.
Not because he was on the verge of becoming only the 10th Chelsea player to score 100 goals, nor because he is still adapting to life as Maurizio Sarr’s ‘false nine’.
The spotlight was on the elegant Belgian because it always is at Chelsea now. Few teams in the Premier League rely on one man as much as the Blues do with Hazard.
Sarri-ball may have transformed this team into an attacking force that fizzes through defences but Hazard remains the only man that looks likely to make them truly pop.
And he did just that at Vicarage Road.
Hazard hit the century for Chelsea, added his 101st and could have left Hertfordshire with the match ball as Sarri’s side moved two points ahead of Arsenal.

Every time Hazard touched the ball, Watford players had panic piercing through their veins, and they were punished when a sloppy ball saw the Belgian calmly round Ben Foster before scoring.
His second was orchestrated by Jorginho but came from the forward’s deep run that saw Foster clatter into him and allow Hazard convert from the spot.
Only 10 months have passed since he grumbled over Antonio Conte’s decision to deploy him in the false nine position, a lone striker up against the might of Manchester City.
But he’s a happy Hazard now.
Conte’s counter-attacking style stifled the football he wanted to see, but under the new boss he is purring once again.
Sarri saw the potential of Hazard to become his goal-scoring false nine in the same way he converted Dries Mertens at Napoli.
Four goals and two assists in four Premier League games in the position shows how swiftly he’s adapted to the role.
Hazard huffs and puffs as he’s bundled into by the likes of Etienne Capoue and Craig Cathcart but the perseverance is there.
Sarri showed his determination as well to persist with the strategy as Pedro’s first-half injury saw the Italian turn to teenager Callum Hudson-Odoi rather than Olivier Giroud.
Hazard often looks more comfortable playing off a big striker like the Frenchman but Sarri wants his side playing at blurring pace with Hazard front and centre.
That may be Chelsea’s only hoping of keeping him away from the lure of Real Madrid. The spotlight will not be shifting.
