Elizabeth Millar-Moss and Edward Dart lived just 30 minutes apart in Australia when their paths crossed in Europe on a Topdeck tour.

The pair had booked the 'European Express' trip - Liz, 24, as a sightseeing expedition in between visiting family in London and Ned, 26, with good friends - and they spent 11 days in a group together.  

'It was definitely "wow" at first sight! I think the love developed as I got to know Ned. I'm not sure how I'd describe us together on tour. We got along really well, chatted a lot, danced a bit and just had a good time with our tour family,' Liz said of their expedition.

'I'd say it was attraction at first sight and then I wanted to get to know Liz better. On the tour we spent a fair bit of time together. We sat next to each other on the tour bus a lot and enjoyed the trip together,' Ned continued.

Liz said she can remember the first time she met him, her first thought being 'Who on earth is called Ned these days?', before she realised how 'attractive' his eyes were.

Despite being on opposite sides of the world the pair realised pretty quickly that they both lived in Adelaide a mere half-hour drive from each other.

And so things went from 'wow' to 'we're together' almost immediately after they came home from their respective holidays

'It's a wonder we didn't meet on a night out here. This was quite lucky for us; we didn't have to move to be together and we got to explore each other's side of town,' she said. 

Four years after they frolicked through the likes of Paris and Switzerland and Ned decided to pop the questions; but not everything went to plan.     

'I was doing some tidying and Ned asked if I wanted to go to the beach to watch the sunset. Poor fella - I knocked him back!' Liz explained.

'I had to pick my brother and sister-in-law up from the airport, so I had a good reason. Not to be deterred he asked me if I wanted a cup of tea in the garden.

'Again, I knocked back the tea but said I'd come sit with him. 

'We were sitting on our outdoor lounge, I had my head on his shoulder and he said "I just want to ask you something - will you marry me?" It was a big surprise. I cried a lot of happy tears and managed to say yes before crying some more.'

The couple are planning to tie the knot in January 2020.

Having met overseas on a travelling expedition, the couple certainly believe you can make a holiday romance last

'We've got a date and venue locked in as well as a few other things. It didn't take me long to start planning - I love having a project to keep me busy and this is definitely the most exciting and special one yet,' she explained.

But they have some sage words of advice for those hoping to go the distance with their own partners.   

'Firstly, book the tour! You're guaranteed to meet people with similar interests and values, and people who offer a different outlook. Secondly, socialise. You'll never get to know someone on a deeper level if you don't talk to them,' Liz said.

Ned suggested that people 'have an open mind and socialise with the people they're drawn to.'
