GLENN Weiss proposed to his girlfriend during his winning speech at the 70th Emmy Awards.

The director made an emotional speech about the award being “bitter-sweet” because of the death of his late mum two weeks ago who would have been “most proud”.

After paying tribute to her, he went on to explain why he didn’t like calling his girlfriend.

He said: “The reason I don’t like calling you my girlfriend is because I want to call you my wife.”

Glenn won Outstanding Directing for a Variety special for the Oscars.

It’s the first time there has ever been a proposal live at the Emmys.
