AN Olympic swimming medallist has been banned from leaving South Korea after being questioned by police over a sexual harassment allegation.
Tamas Kenderisi had been competing in the country at the world swimming championships which are taking place in Gwangju.
But the 22-year-old was arrested by Korean police early this morning and questioned over an incident said to have taken place in a nightclub.
The Hungarian, who claimed a bronze medal at the Rio 2016 Olympics in the butterfly, has since been released by authorities and allowed to return to the athletes village.
But Kenderisi has been told he will not be allowed to leave South Korea for the next ten days while police continue looking into the allegations.
It is understood Kenderisi denies the allegations against him.
The swimmer had finished competing in the championships, where he finished last in the final of the men’s 200m butterfly last week.
The event in Gwangju has been in the headlines for events out of the pool as much as in the water.

In the early hours of Saturday a balcony collapsed in a nightclub close to the athletes village, killing two people.
Eight competitors were among another 16 injured, when the platform revellers were dancing on tumbled down onto people below.
And there was also controversy when two swimmers, including Britain’s Duncan Scott, decided to stage a protest by refusing to share a podium with drug cheat Chinese gold medal winner Sun Yang.
