"Many Photos" - Prince Harry ‘gives barefoot speech’ at Google climate change retreat to celebs who flocked in gas-guzzling jets and superyachts

PRINCE Harry reportedly gave a barefoot speech at a Google climate retreat yesterday – to celebs who flocked by private jets and superyachts.

The Duke of Sussex showed up at the super-secret three-day event to give an impassioned lecture about saving nature to a crowd of VIPS and power brokers, it’s claimed.

The super luxurious Verdura resort in Sicily is filled with the world’s rich and powerful taking part in a three-day Google Camp focusing on climate change

That’s despite many of the hypocritical superstars travelling to the Google Camp conference in Italy in gas-guzzling private planes.

And dozens of A-listers are reportedly choosing to stay on giant polluting superyachts during their time in Sicily.

They are also being ferried to-and-from the tech giant’s seventh annual jolly at an exclusive Sicilian resort in fuel-sucking Maseratis.

During his speech, the prince repeated his vow not to have more than two children with wife Meghan Markle because of his eco concerns, the New York Post reports.

What we need to remind everybody is: these are things that are happening now. We are already living in it… Which is terrifying

He had made the pledge in an interview with Vogue this week – in which he also spoke about the the “terrifying” effects of climate change.

Harry had said: “What we need to remind everybody is: these are things that are happening now.

“We are already living in it… Which is terrifying.”

And following the birth of baby Archie in May, Harry said of the number of kids he wanted: “Two, maximum!”

ATTENTED IN 2017

Harry, 34, also attended the event in 2017 – and was rumoured to have taken Meghan, 37, with him.

The couple made their first public appearance together at a Polo match in Ascot in may that year.

And Meghan was spotted in London a week after the camp with her mum celebrating her birthday.

Kensington Palace said of Harry’s Google speech last night: “This is not something we are commenting on.”

NAOMI ON MANDELA

Meanwhile, Brit supermodel Naomi Campbell also reportedly gave a powerful speech about Nelson Mandela at the elite getaway

President Barack Obama was due to attend and give a talk – but was a no-show, sources told the New York Post.

Despite the vast consumption on display, the tech giant’s exclusive getaway is focused on climate change.

The world’s rich and famous will also discuss human rights, politics and online privacy.

It has been attended by vocal green campaigners Leonardo DiCaprio, Stella McCartney and Katy Perry.

Coldplay singer Chris Martin, a supporter of The CarbonNeutral Company, performed at night amid brightly lit ruins.

I’ve never seen such a pampered bunch. Everything is laid on for them. It’s so extravagant. They just don’t seem to be aware that they’re the ones burning huge amounts of fossil fuels

Other big-name guests included Harry StylesOrlando BloomBradley CooperPriyanka Chopra, Nick Jonas and fashion designer Diane Von Furstenberg.

An insider said: “I’ve never seen such a pampered bunch. Everything is laid on for them. It’s so extravagant.

“They just don’t seem to be aware that they’re the ones burning huge amounts of fossil fuels.

“They turn up with unnecessary entourages in helicopters or fast cars and then preach about saving the world.”

DiCaprio narrated a documentary about the warming planet titled Before The Flood in 2016, while Perry made videos for Unicef about climate change and Stella McCartney is big on sustainability in fashion.

FLEET OF 114 JETS EXPECTED

Yet 114 private jets were expected at the event at the Verdura Resort and 40 had arrived by Sunday, according to the Italian press.

Even if guests had taken scheduled flights from Los Angeles to the Mediterranean island they will have added a reported 770 tonnes of Co2 to the atmosphere.

Local media reported the A-listers have “invaded” the island, clogging local roads with Masteratis, Ferraris and Porches.

Celebrities have also been photographed tooling around the island in gas-guzzling, high-end SUVs.

The schedule is a closely guarded secret with guests having to sign non-disclosure agreements, but a source told the New York Post: “Everything is about global warming, that is the major topic this year.”

Google, which owns YouTube and provides the world’s most popular search engine, claims it “strives to build sustainability into everything” it does.

But the Verdura Resort is bigger than Monaco and houses a 203-room five-star hotel, three golf courses, six tennis courts, football pitch, volleyball, four pools and a water sports club.

For the entertainment, Google rents out the impressive Valley of the Temples ruins in nearby Agrigento where guests enjoy top cuisine and the performance of a famous singer.
