A TEENAGER fractured her skull and severed her spinal cord after she fell from a third-floor balcony in Malaga.
Niamh McGeoghegan, 18, suffered life-changing injuries while she was at a friend’s 18th birthday party in the early hours of St Patrick’s Day.

She was taken to a hospital in Malaga and has remained there in intensive care ever since.
Niamh had three fractures to her skull, swelling on her brain, fractured ribs, a punctured lung and a shattered vertebrae.
She initially regained consciousness last week but had to be sedated after she became agitated.
Although now she has slipped back into a coma.
Niamh had moved to Spain from Ireland four years ago with her parents – mum Claire, 47, and dad Damien, 49.
Her sister Aoife, 22, is currently studying in Ireland.
Niamh’s uncle, Tony Curran told The Irish News that medics had told her parents she would be paralysed from the waist down.
He said the circumstances of the accident are unclear.
‘FIGHTER’
Mum Claire described her daughter, who is currently studying for her A-levels, as a “fighter” and said she had a strange nightmare on the night of the accident.
She woke up screaming just after midnight having dreamt she was falling backwards.
They rushed to be by her hospital bed as soon as they heard the news.
Claire told the Belfast Telegraph: “Initially we didn’t think she would make it from the fall she had.
“It shows you how determined she is, and it’s her determination and fight that’s making us think that she’s such a strong girl.”
She added: “She is very determined, really lively, always having fun, always just a really lively girl.”
Mum Claire that her daughter had received lots of love from friends and family and they had even started a book which people are signing to show their support for the teenager.
‘ROLLER-COASTER OF EMOTIONS’
But despite the strong support Claire said she and her husband were still going through a “roller-coaster of emotions” but had no option but to get on with things.
The family are currently fundraising to buy the specialist equipment she will need when she eventually gets out of hospital although that is not expected to happen for several months.
Claire said: “There’s still things we don’t know; she can definitely move her left arm but they want to do some tests because there is nerve damage to her right arm.
“We don’t know at this stage, her brain seems to be functioning and she has been following commands, she can talk and remembers the incident, so we don’t know if there will be brain damage as such.”
More than £4,000 has been raised so far.

Tony said: “It’s still very early in her recovery. We don’t know what lies ahead.
“She is strong and a fighter but she needs so much help. The whole family does.”
