PEP GUARDIOLA can count himself fortunate not to have watched the closing stages of Manchester City’s victory over Liverpool from the stands.
The Spaniard’s side reignited the Premier League title race after overcoming the leaders in a pulsating encounter at The Etihad.

Roberto Firmino looked to have kept Liverpool’s unbeaten top-flight campaign going after the Brazilian levelled Sergio Aguero’s opener.
But Leroy Sane struck with just 18 minutes remaining to earn the champions a 2-1 win in an emotional rollercoaster of a night.
However, passions almost spilled over in the dying stages as Jurgen Klopp’s visitors came close to an equaliser – leading to a furious reaction from City boss Guardiola.
The Reds broke away as Mo Salah was played into the box, but his powerful effort was turned away by his goalkeeper Ederson.

But Guardiola was fuming after he felt referee Anthony Taylor had failed to spot a foul in the lead-up to the attack.
And he quickly let the fourth official know about it.
DAVE KIDD Liverpool’s dream of invincibility is gone but against Man City they showed no sign they are going to choke
He angrily ripped off his scarf before venting his anger at the Martin Atkinson on the touchline.
Taylor spotted the melee and darted over to the dug-out in an attempt to restore order.

Still raging, Guardiola continued his rant as he angrily pointed and jabbed his finger at the man in the black.
Luckily, Taylor seemed content that he had calmed the situation and allowed the ex-Barcelona and Bayern Munich chief to remain on the sideline for the final few moments of the epic encounter.
City’s win helped them to close the gap on Liverpool to just four points at the top.
Guardiola told Sky Sports afterwards: “Liverpool don’t concede goals, and we scored two. We played with courage, so aggressive in our pressing. They are incredibly fast in behind, so dangerous.

“If we lose today it is almost done, it would be so difficult. But we are four points behind them and they are the leaders. We have to fight a lot, but this gives us a lot of confidence.”
He added: “They are leaders, it is four points but we have reduced the gap. We knew that if we won we would be in contention to fight for the Premier league, if we lose it is over.
“I don’t remember a league so tough, there are so many huge contenders fighting for the title. It is closer, every game is a final.”
