CORONATION Street actress Bhavna Limbachia claims she has was turned down for Asian roles for being “too pale”.
The Corrie star, who plays Rana Nazir on the soap, says she was stunned when a casting director said her skin was too light.

Gorgeous Bhavna, 34, who has an Indian mum and Kenyan dad, started out as a costume designer where she says her skill and creativity were more important than looks.
She told the Daily Star: “With costume it’s about how good you are, how creative you are.
“With acting it was: ‘You’re too tall. You’re too short. You’re too fat. You’re too thin.’
“I once went to a job and was told I was too pale to play an Asian character and I said: ‘I’m full Asian!’”

She says she soon realised “certain things in the industry weren’t as easily in reach for me as they were for a Caucasian actor.
“If it means you have to work a little bit harder than other people may have to it’s still worth doing.’’
The actress has described playing Rana as “one of my biggest challenges but also one of my biggest achievements.”
