"Many Photos" - Roma ‘agree season long loan deal for Higuain’ – but Juventus striker doesn’t want to move

ROMA have agreed a loan deal with Juventus for Gonzalo Higuain, according to reports in Italy.

But the Argentine, who flopped at Chelsea last season, is yet to accept his move – even though he could be made skipper at Stadio Olimpico.

According to Corriere delo Sport, Roma want to sign Higuain, 31, on a season-long loan with an option to buy for £24million next summer.

They would also pay Juventus a £5.4m loan fee in order to secure the striker’s services for the next 12 months.

Both sides have done business this summer already with Luca Pellegrini moving to Turin and Leonardo Spinazzola going the other way.

But Higuain prefers to stay with the Serie A champions and is hoping to have his contract extended until 2023.

Even though his salary would be cut in half and dropped to £4m a year.

The Argentine failed to make an impact at Chelsea last season, scoring just five goals in 18 appearances during his six-month spell at Stamford Bridge.

Higuain, however, remains Roma’s No1 target to replace Edin Dzeko, who could join Inter Milan this summer.

Antonio Conte is desperate to boost his strikeforce and have been chasing the Bosnian as well as Manchester United star Romelu Lukaku.

But San Siro chiefs have so far failed to seal a deal for either forward – angering new boss Antonio Conte.
