WHAT motivates the Labour and Lib Dem MPs and hysterical Remainer pundits as they compete to denounce Boris Johnson with increasingly ridiculous insults? Fear.
Remainers see their dream of a second referendum, or cancelling Brexit, dying.
Labour and its media cheerleaders are terrified that this Tory leader could rip them apart. One Labour MP predicts Boris will “wipe the floor” with Corbyn.
Panic has set in with Irish leader Leo Varadkar too, ramping up his rhetoric now we have a PM who means business.
No Deal will cause Dublin such chaos that the EU intends to let them waive border checks. So much for the “backstop” being vital to avoid a hard border. In the end they’ll just make checks away from the border, as Eurosceptics said.
Our new Cabinet, meanwhile, fizzes with energy and resolve. Long may it last.
And while a suicide squad of Tory Remoaners may still fancy forcing an election to avoid No Deal, that threat looks far less potent than a week ago.
Peak stupidity
WE despair of our police.
Yes, they are short-staffed. That is obviously partly to blame for knife crime soaring to record highs. We back the 20,000 cops the Tories aim to recruit.
But then “hard-pressed” bobbies build a huge tower of hats in a juvenile social media contest. And the Met commissions a spray-painter to daub a nick with cartoons bearing banal messages.
Some forces have given up on burglaries, blaming cuts. The Met often seems to have given up on even more serious crime. Yet the stunts and virtue-signalling keep coming. And police chiefs seem too dim to grasp how bad it looks.
New policing minister Kit Malthouse is focused on recruitment. But he must also lay down the law about a return to basic crime-fighting and detection.
Plus a ban on social media posts that do nothing for the public but enrage it.
Left’s racist cult
IT began with Jews. Now Labour’s race hatred extends to black and ethnic minority people who vote the “wrong” way.
Look how they are targeting BAME Cabinet members. Clive Lewis MP, an acolyte of anti-Semite Corbyn, tells black Tory chairman James Cleverly he “sold his soul” to serve “a racist PM”.

A Corbynite “journalist” says politicians like Sajid Javid and Priti Patel are “no longer a person of colour. They are a turncoat of colour”.
Labour has no time for BAME people it cannot deploy as victims of Tory “oppression”. If they reject that victimhood, vote Conservative or, worse, have the talent to reach the top of a Tory Government, they are not “properly” BAME.
Such is the poison of “identity politics” spread by Corbyn and his cult of hate-filled halfwits.
