Using masking tape and tester pots of paint, which can be bought for as little as 10p, people have created incredible abstract designs.

The trend is taking off online, with people sharing their new feature walls on Facebook’s Extreme Couponing and Bargains Group.

Posting before and after photos, one woman updated her bathroom from beige to a funky purple, green and grey pattern.

She wrote: “Lots of folks have been posting their masking tape + wilkos tester pots, so here’s mine.

“Was really easy and a total of £6!”

Another person went for a pink-theme, repainting her kitchen.

Revealing her multi-coloured design, she wrote: “Wanted to update my kitchen, a few tester pots of paint and masking tape.”

And sharing her grayscale wall, another person revealed they managed to redecorate for under a fiver.

She said: “Did our kitchen feature wall using 10p tester pots from B&Q! Whole wall cost about £3!”

People have praised the budget-friendly DIY tip as “lush”.

One woman said: “We need to try this.”

A third said: “I love this idea.”

Tester paint pots can be bought at most home or hardware stores, and to create an abstract effect simply use masking tape to mark outlines on your wall.

Paint the inside with various colours depending on your theme, and when dry simply peel off the tape to reveal perfectly straight edges.

Some people are even incorporating coloured tape to use as part of their final look, buying rose-gold or glitter tape to use in the finished product.

A different kind of makeover, a little girl gave her baby brother a Towie-inspired look with fake tan and eyebrows.

And this will certainly inspire you to change, after one woman revealed all the dirt lurking in her mattress after she vacuumed it.

Plus parents recently shared hilarious snaps of their children causing chaos during the school holidays.
