A MUM and sitter have been jailed after a baby drowned in a sewage-filled basement when she fell through a hole in the floor that was only covered with cardboard.
Little Ca’mya Davis died in the care of babysitter Tonya Peterson, 29, who was sentenced on Tuesday to up to 15 years in prison.

Peterson had been entrusted to care for Ca’mya by the baby’s mum Dasiah Jordan, 26, was out getting her hair done in Detroit, Michigan.
But instead she ordered a 10-year-old girl to look after the little 11-month-old – while she watched TV.
The older girl accidentally left a door open to let light in while she cooked.
That allowed access to the bedroom with the hole in it – which had been covered with flimsy cardboard.
Careless Peterson normally kept the door closed but Ca’mya was able to crawl in before fatally falling into the flooded basement on July 6 last year.
You will suffer for the rest of your life about this but you shall hopefully learn from this and move on, and hopefully be the best mother (you) can be for the children
Judge Wanda Evans
Peterson must serve a minimum of 17 months behind bars before she can be considered for parole.
Jordan, who lived in a rented room in the house with her little girl, was also convicted of involuntary manslaughter and child abuse over the harrowing death.
The mum, who had been charged as a habitual offender, was sentenced to a year in prison on Monday as well as four years’ probation.
A judge told Jordan, who also has two other children age 10 and 7, that she hoped she would learn from the tragedy.

Prosecutor Jennifer Tink said that despite Peterson claiming to be safety aware, she was happy to let a child sleep in the dangerous bedroom.
Tink added: “A two-by-four with some nails would have prevented this.”
