A KILLER eagle owl capable of eating a fully grown deer is on the loose in Ireland.
Parents have been warned the huge bird with a wingspan of more than 6ft could attack children and small animals.
The animal fled after being scared off by her owner Darren Jackson’s cat at his home in Curragh Grange in Newbridge, Co. Kildare.
Darren made a plea to anyone who may have seen his Eurasian eagle owl – named Tank, but who is sometimes called Owlington – to contact him.
She was last seen heading towards the M7 two days ago.
He said on social media: “She has her jesses(a thin leather strap) and bell on and given her size she will be unmistakable.”
He also warned that she could be dangerous to children or small animals.
Darren said: “Keep children and small animals away from her as she may cause injury to them or herself.”
He told Breakingnews.ie: “If she is in a tree top during the day, she will be mobbed by crows. This means they will try and chase her out of the area.
“If she is in a residential area, she is likely to try and rest under a bush if she is tired or stressed but in that instance I would recommend people not to pick her up or try to catch her as there is a potential for them to be hurt by her talons if they don’t know what they are doing.”
The owl is thought to still be in the Kildare area and anyone who spots her has been asked to contact gardai or the National Parks & Wildlife Service.
