"Many Photos" - Moment furious man in Leave-voting Somerset slams door in Tory's face

This is the moment a furious man in Leave-voting Somerset slams the door in a Tory's council candidate's face on BBC breakfast radio.

Conservative prospective prospective council candidate for South Somerset District Council Rod Jones, took the full brunt of the public's anger over Brexit while out canvassing for votes.

In an exchange broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Today Programme, the man answers the door and  to his home and asks 'Which party are you', Mr Jones replies 'Conservative.'

The man launches into a blistering attack on the Conservatives, he said:  'No, chance, What after the bloody mess they've left us in.

'You got to be joking, I'm watching it on the television here now, disgraceful, the bloody lot of you!

The exasperation felt by voter is reminiscent of Brenda from Bristol, who was hailed as 'the voice of the nation'.

It came after a video of her exasperated reaction to finding out there would be a General Election in 2017 went viral.

Prospective politician Mr Jones went on to talk to reporter Ross Hawkins from BBC Radio 4 about his experiences on the doorstep for the upcoming May elections.

He said: 'There is a lot of distrust there towards the actions of the government I think because they not seeing leadership and that's a problem we are finding.'

In a later exchange, Tina and Wendy, also from the rural Somerset area said 'we voted to leave so lets just leave.'

The short clip emphasised the level of distrust in certain Leave-voting areas who are feeling let down by the chaotic negotiations for Brexit.

The council elections are likely to be a barometer for how Leave-voting areas are feeling about the Conservative Party and how they have handled Brexit.

It comes on the same week Conservative Party members are cutting up their membership cards and sharing the results on social media, describing Theresa May's announcement that she will hold Brexit talks with Jeremy Corbyn as the 'final straw'.

Pub owner Adam Brooks, from Essex, was one of many to share a photo of his chopped up card.

Mr Brooks said the Labour leader 'has no right to be involved' in Brexit talks and Mrs May has 'killed' the Conservative Party.

Lawrence Gartshore, 16, said he cancelled his membership hours after the Prime Minister's announcement from Downing Street on Tuesday evening.

'The Conservative Party are not conservative any longer,' the school student from Warwick said.

'This emphatic capitulation by May was really the final straw.'
