"Many Photos" - Man dies after being crushed between Mercedes van and crash barrier on M1

A MAN has died after being crushed between a van and barrier on the busy M1.

Cops were scrambled to the hard shoulder of the northbound carriageway near Leicestershire at around 10.30pm.

They discovered the man trapped between the van and barrier but no other people were in the vehicle.

He was pronounced dead at the scene with cops now trying to establish how the tragedy unfolded.

They are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.

The crash took place between junction 22, for Markfield and junction 23, for Shepshed.

Detective Constable Pete Davies, from Leicestershire Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) is investigating the incident.

He said: “I am asking for anyone who was travelling on the M1, especially on the northbound side, to come forward if you saw a white Mercedes van on the hard shoulder.

“Did you notice anything untoward or did you see the vehicle prior to it stopping? If you have a dashcam in your vehicle, please check it for any footage it may have recorded.

“Call 101, quoting incident 737 of 3 April.”

It comes after a brainless driver was slammed yesterday for parking on the same motorway so a little boy could go for a wee.
