In an interview with the Scotsman Alison has described her character as “really tenacious, ambitious, very career focused.”
Her other TV credits include Holby City and Feel The Force.

It’s the perfect role for him since he was born in Lerwick on the Shetland Islands.
He also played Dominic Rook in Being Human and Cuthbert in Tess of the D’Urbervilles.

Mark Bonnar returns as Duncan Hunter – the birth father of Jimmy’s step-daughter Cassie.

Series five will also feature Rakie Ayola as Olivia Lennox – the mother of the victim Daniel.
Soap fans might recognise her for playing Kyla Tyson in Holby City and she’s also starred on the West End as Hermione Granger in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

What happened at the end of Shetland series four?
Shetland series four was about the murders of two women – teenager Lizzie Kilmuir whose supposed killer Tommy Malone was released 23 years following her death and Sally McColl, a local journalist who was strangled in a similar attack.
In a bid to get to the bottom of the case the team travelled to Bergen in Norway to discover who was really behind Lizzie’s murder all those years ago.
But the case was close to home for DCI Perez who ended up having to question Duncan, his stepdaughter Cassie’s biological father.
It turned out that Duncan had an affair with Lizzie’s mother Donna Killick but when Lizzie found out she murdered her own daughter to stop her husband from finding out.
Years later Sally then discovered the truth – that her own father Drew was a corrupt cop who let the wrong person go down in order to protect Donna – so he murdered her to keep her quiet.

What is Shetland series five about?
Shetland series five deals with a grisly case which unfolds when a jogger finds a severed hand on the beach.
The team then discover a bag containing other body parts at a nearby inlet.
They discover that the victim is a Nigerian man called Daniel but they don’t know why he came to Shetland – or who would possibly want to kill him.
Through analysing his social media account and e-mails DCI Perez hopes to get closer to the truth as suspicion begins to surround the fish factory and local scrap metal dealers.
