MANCHESTER UNITED have picked up four more points than any other team in the Premier League since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over.

The Reds have won seven league games in their last eight outings following the dismissal of Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford.

Mourinho guided the club to their worst start to a season in 28 years before he was eventually axed in December.

Solskjaer was appointed on a temporary basis, but he is now contention to secure the job permanently as the Reds push for a top four spot.

Since December 19, his side have won more points and have a better goal difference than any other team in the league

In eight games including seven wins and a draw, United have picked up 22 points, scored 20 goals and conceded just six times.

If the season had started when Solskjaer took over, Spurs would be second with 18 points and Liverpool in third with 16 points.

Manchester City would be sat in fourth, closely followed by Arsenal, Wolves and Chelsea.

Solskjaer has won nine of his first 10 games in all competitions and he is already making plans for next season.

Following the win over Leicester, United are looking to win five successive away games in all competitions for the first time since October 2012 when Sir Alex Ferguson was in charge.
