The mother of the Polish butcher arrested over the disappearance of Libby Squire sobbed as she told MailOnline today her son is 'no killer' - but revealed he had picked up a 'crying girl' in his car and offered her a lift home on the night the missing student vanished.
Detectives have sealed off Paweł Rełowicz's rented house, took away his computers and towed away his silver Vauxhall Astra after they arrested him on Wednesday night on suspicion of abducting her a week ago in Hull.
His terraced home is half a mile from the bench where Miss Squire was last seen sitting in a drunken state shortly before midnight last Thursday.
The married father-of-two, 24, who works as a butcher in a Humberside bacon factory, remains in custody today after officers hunting for Libby were given 36 more hours to question him over her disappearance.
MailOnline visited Rełowicz' mother Marzena in Poland today who said she understood her son was driving through the area where the philosophy student was last seen and had offered a lift to a girl he saw sobbing on the street.
She said: 'My son is no killer. Paulina [Pawel's sister] told me that he was driving home and saw a girl crying. Paulina told me he had given her a lift as she wanted to go home.
'I know in my heart that Pawel did not do anything to this girl. My heart is breaking over this and I feel so sad for the girl's parents and what they are going through. I can't imagine their pain. If I could go to England I would and would kneel before them and pray that she is found.'
Search teams have also sealed off a car park in her local park today after zoning in on a pond, derelict boat house and the banks of the River Hull.
Humberside Detective Superintendent Matt Hutchinson said: 'I can confirm that the court has granted a further 36 hours from 9:11am this morning to question a man on suspicion of abduction in connection with the Libby Squire investigation'.

Marzena mother-of-eight has not spoken to her son since Squires was reported missing after failing to return to her student accommodation after a night out with friends.
Since Pawel's arrest his wife and two young children have been staying with friends. She said her husband Zpigniew, 50, was away working but had been told about his son's arrest.
Marzena Relowicz said her son – the second eldest of eight - was a 'kind, loving family man' and was not violent.
'He loved his wife and his young family. He was here a year ago and they were all very happy. It just does not sound like him to be involved in anything bad', she told MailOnline.
She was not aware of Pawel working as a part time taxi driver but said he would do anything to earn extra money for his family.
'He would do whatever to make ends meet,' she said.
‘Before after leaving school he just did odd jobs to help buy things. He would work in the fields to get money so we could buy clothes.
‘He went to England five years ago so he could earn some good money, but he was very homesick for a long time. It was only after he met his wife and had a family that he settled'.
She added: 'I feel so helpless here and so far away from Pawel. I want to help him and I just pray that things will work out for the best.
'We are waiting to hear what will happen and pray to God that he has not done anything wrong'.
Speaking at the family him his aunt Maria added: 'Why would he do such a terrible thing? He is married and has two lovely children.'Everyone in the family is in a state of shock and just waiting to hear that he has done nothing wrong'.
Friends last saw Relowicz about a year ago when he returned to his home village with his wife and two young children.
His aunt said: 'They were very happy. He was pleased to be a father and they were a lovely family.'

Forensics teams are said to have been carrying out fingertip searches inside the sealed-off property in Hull and were seen taking away evidence in bags including tablets, a laptop and a PC
A former schoolfriend said most people in the village knew that Relowicz had moved to England to seek work and had married a Polish girl.
The school friend said: 'Pawel was in the year below me at school. He was a very sporty guy who loved his football and always very nice to be around.
'We have all heard about what has happened to him in England and it is a shock.'
Relowicz grew up in the village of Warszewice where the main source of employment is work in a sugar beet factory.
Fewer than 600 people live in the village with homes surrounded by snow-covered fields. There is a single shop, a supermarket, in the centre of the village where Marzena was a frequent shopper.
In his current home city, Hull, officers stopped the public entering a large area of Oak Road playing fields surrounding a pond with a helicopter hovering above as police searched drains and bins. It is half a mile from Libby's home.
One woman said she heard 'dark and eerie' screams from near the park on the night she disappeared and saw a man running away, according to the Mirror.
Teams were also scouring a stretch of riverbank and a series of abandoned buildings - but officers turned walkers away and refused to say why they were back in an area they have already checked in the seven days since she vanished.
A forensics officer was also seen bagging up evidence and photographing an area of pathway leading into the cordoned-off zone.
Bacon factory worker Relowicz, who according to his Facebook profile is a martial arts enthusiast, moved into the raided property around a year ago with his wife and their sons.
The terraced house is less than a mile from where Libby was last seen sitting on a bench seven days ago and forensics officers were carrying out fingertip searches as detectives removed Relowicz' belongings including a PC and a tablet computer.
Colleagues of factory worker Relowicz were shocked at news of his arrest.
Tadeusz Skibicki, 39, said: 'When I heard the news it was a big shock. Pawel is a quiet, normal person. He has never been violent.'
According to another friend, Relowicz had worked at the Karro Food Group's headquarters in Malton, North Yorkshire, for around five years. Pawel is believed to have lived in Poland before that.
His wife also worked there but had been on maternity leave following the birth of their second child in October and is believed to have been selling Avon cosmetics online.

Officers raided their house in Raglan Street - half a mile from where Libby was last seen on a bench last Thursday after a night out with friends.
Today there is a heavy police presence at the park close to where the missing 21-year-old girl was last seen.
One police van is blocking the entry into the car park of Oak Road Park Playing Fields, near where she lives.
Four officers are currently searching the fields with poles as they look for any clues into her disappearance.
Locals are still able to walk their dogs in the park and there are currently no forensic officers helping with the search - but were not allowed near the car park.
After Wednesday night's arrest officers towed away the Astra and remain at Rełowicz's property this morning where they were taking photographs inside and forensics officers were looking for fingerprints on the front door.
John Garrity, 72, described the moment the police arrived on his neighbour's doorstep last night.
He told MailOnline: 'The police came knocking at my door and asked for access to the back garden. I knew it was to do with the couple next door but I never for a second imagined it was anything to do with the missing girl.
'The silver Astra that was taken away by the police does to belong to him, I have seen him in it many times. We've never had much conversation. The most that I have spoken to them was when a wooden panel in their fence fell down the lady asked whether I would call the landlord for them because her English wasn't up to it'.
He said they had children and a dog, adding: 'It is quite a shock to find this kind of police activity at their home to say the least'.
Hairdresser Iwona Reczulska said: 'I last saw Pawel about two weeks ago on Friday or Saturday. He was his normal self and was chatting about his kids as he usually did.
'He works five days a week at a bacon factory in Malton which is about an hour away.
'He's not one to go out drinking he always tells me that he likes to spend weekends at home with the family.
'it's very surprising to me to hear that they have been mentioned over something like this, they have seemed their normal selves with no sign of anything wrong or different.
'To me he was a normal, friendly, quite quiet guy.'
A friend of the couple, who didn't want to be named, said: 'I know him, his wife comes shopping here a lot. He would come in maybe every two weeks and he came in more when she was pregnant.
'He seemed like a normal, very quiet person. I do not believe he could do something so bad.
'I was never scared of him or felt threatened. He would just come and buy his things then leave.
'The woman would sometimes come in every day with her children. They just seemed like a normal family.'

Part of a public park only a few hundred yards from Libby's house has also been closed off this afternoon.
Investigators were pictured searching the front gardens of houses surrounding the park with long brown poles.
Others could be seen looking inside a derelict house on the park's grounds that's fenced off to the public.
Officers refused to comment on why a section of the park is closed.
Detective Superintendent Matt Hutchinson said: 'We are still treating Libby's disappearance as a missing person's enquiry.
'I have said previously that we are keeping an open mind as to her whereabouts and that is still very much the case.
'Our number one priority is to find Libby Squire and we are still conducting extensive searches and appealing for any information from the public.'
The senior officer said: 'During the course of our investigations we have spoken to a taxi driver and another motorist who stopped to help Libby on the night.
'I want to make it clear that these two individuals are not suspects in this enquiry.
'My officers have been and will continue to work around the clock in our search for Libby.'
Libby had been on a drunken night out with friends and returned to her student digs in a taxi at 11.30pm last Thursday after being turned away from a nightclub.
Instead of going inside, CCTV revealed that Libby went to sit on a bench around 300 yards away on Beverley Road. She was last seen on an adjacent street, Beresford Avenue, at just after midnight before disappearing and a near-neighbour of Libby's said she woke up suddenly having heard 'blood-curdling screams' at around 12.30am.
It has also emerged today that a man in a balaclava was seen near Libby's home, according to the Mirror.

Students who saw her said she was so drunk that she was 'mumbling and struggling to walk'.
Instead of going inside, Miss Squire walked down the road and was seen on CCTV sitting on a bench on the main Beverley Road 300 yards away.
Police said she was in the area until 12.09am. There were reports of screams at around 12.30am.
Chief Superintendent Phil Ward said: 'While the investigation has been treated as a missing person inquiry, we continue to keep an open mind as to the circumstances surrounding Libby's disappearance. We must carry out a thorough investigation and explore all possibilities.'
Miss Squire's parents, Lisa and Russell, have travelled to Hull from their home in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, and are anxiously awaiting developments.
They have walked the streets where their daughter was last seen.
