LABOUR’S General Secretary Jennie Formby sparked a furious row after she said anti-Semitism would never be eradicated from the party.
The Corbyn ally was hauled to a meeting of the Parliamentary Labour Party to explain what she is doing to stamp out the racism.
But she told the packed meeting there is no hope of fully eliminating anti-Semitism – despite hours earlier emailing all MPs to say she is determined to “eliminate the evil of anti-Semitism”.
She also defied MPs, who unanimously passed a motion ordering the leadership to reveal how many cases of anti-Semitism there are unresolved within the next seven days.
She snubbed the demand – telling MPs that she answers the party’s ruling NEC body and not them.
Emerging from the meeting looking visibly shaken, Jewish Labour MP Luciana Berger slammed the response.
She said: “She said ‘we cannot eradicate anti-Semitism completely. Well I’m sorry – that is what the party is supposed to have at its core, on the membership card that we carry in our wallets, that is not acceptable.”
Labour MPs John Mann and Dame Margaret Hodge both said they have received threats from Corbynistas after daring to speak out on anti-Semitism, but their complaints have been ignored by the party.
Dame Margaret, who lost family in the Holocaust, tore into Ms Formby for refusing to reveal the number of anti-Semitism cases.
She said: “For me if you want to get rid of the cancer of anti-Semitism in the Labour party you have to have complete transparency, and she is refusing to do that.”

Labour MP Wes Streeting said: “In not giving us the data she has ruled out any possibility of Jewish members and Jewish constituents having confidence in the Labour party’s ability to tackle anti-Semitism.”
Labour has been dogged by an anti-Semitism crisis since Mr Corbyn was elected.
Jewish MPs who have dared to speak out have been hit by death and rape threats – and threats of deselection.
