"Many Photos" - Dismal Arsenal shooting stat shows how utterly lifeless they were in second half against Man City

STATS SHOW Arsenal did not manage a single shot on target in the second-half of their 3-1 away defeat to champions Manchester City.

The Gunners slipped to sixth after they were handed defeat number six of the season – while City closed the gap at the top by two points with Liverpool playing West Ham tomorrow.

OptaStats revealed how the Gunners did not record a single shot on target in the second half.

The last time Arsenal failed to record a shot in a 45 minute period came in their 1-1 draw at Man United in 2015.

Unai Emery’s men only managed two shots on target throughout the Etihad clash.

City opened the scoring after just 60 seconds when Sergio Aguero headed home from an Aymeric Laporte cross.

It took just 10 minutes for the Gunners to draw level as Laurent Koscielny equalised after a diverted corner fell his way.

Aguero regained City’s lead on the stroke of half-time as he was on the end of a Raheem Sterling cross.

City’s lead was extended on the hour mark as Aguero completed his hat-trick – however, in controversial style.

Another Sterling cross found its way to Aguero, but as the Argentine slid in the ball looked to have come off his hand as the striker forced his third of the game.

City’s No10 netted his tenth in the Premier League hat-trick, with only Alan Shearer on 11 bettering the Argentina international.

After the game, Gunners boss Emery said: “After losing 3-1 it’s not easy to say that, but know we need big help.

“The difference between City and us is like this result. We need to do our work. Not a big frustration at moment, the result is the difference.

“They showed their superiority in 90 minutes. They held their level in 90 minutes and our level in the second half was worse than the first.

“Our challenge now is the next week, continue to work and improve, and think how we can work and be better.”
