WES Nelson’s Dancing On Ice partner Vanessa Bauer was totally loved up with ex Louis Nathaniel in the days before their shock split.

The skater, 22, announced only yesterday that she and circus performer Louis – who she’d been with for two years – had gone their separate ways – and it’s come as a surprised to their pals and everyone on the ITV show.

Sources told The Sun Louis had become concerned about Vanessa’s growing closeness to Wes, 20, who is himself dating Love Island co-star Megan Barton Hanson, 24.

However, Louis was seen backstage at Dancing On Ice in the lead up to Vanessa’s first dance with Wes, and the pair looked the picture of happiness.

A source tells The Sun Online: “Louis was backstage at rehearsals as Vanessa and Wes practised for their big performance. No one saw their split coming.

“They seemed perfectly fine – there was no arguing, no tension… nothing. Louis just seemed like the perfect, supportive boyfriend.

“It’s come as a shock to everyone onset as they seemed quite happy together. But maybe it was all an act.

“Louis even seemed quite friendly with Wes. There was no obvious jealousy there.”

And on Louis’ Instagram page, there was no hint of discourse between him and Vanessa as he wished her and Wes good luck ahead of their big night.

On his Instagram Story, he wrote: “Good luck to the two tonight!!!”

Wes also defended the pair after the split rumours

It comes after Wes’ girlfriend Megan hit out at Vanessa or her “tactical break up” with Louis and for not introducing herself to her at last night’s show.

Taking to Instagram stories, Megan said: “@@Vanessabauer_skates love that you decide to announce your breakup with your boyfriend on the night of your 1st performance with my boyfriend!

“You’ve never reached out to me once or invited me to watch you train, it pained you to introduce yourself to me last night, you didn’t even look me in the eye LOL.

“Hope the tactical breakup got you the headlines you wanted babe. @wesnelson”

Wes took to Instagram to defend Megan, writing on his story: “Oh and give it a rest with this Dancing on Ice curse b******* as well it’s laughable.”
