WAYNE Rooney got the hairdryer treatment from wife Coleen over his drunken US airport arrest.
During a blistering telephone call she yelled: “How many times do you need to be told?”
A source said: “She told him he wasn’t to go out of the house again without her supervision.”
“Coleen was really p***ed off with Wayne for getting into trouble again.
“She was mortified when she got the call about it and wanted him straight home. She called him an idiot for doing something so stupid.”
Rooney was arrested for public intoxication and swearing on December 16 after landing at Washington Dulles Airport.
The England and Manchester United legend, who now plays for Washington’s United DC, had mixed cocktails and sleeping pills during a 14 hour private jet flight from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
He was held in the cells until he sobered up. He later flew back to the UK for Christmas.
Coleen, 32, had calmed down by the time she saw Rooney, 33, face-to-face. The source said: “She warned him to never do something so daft again.
“When he’s been drinking and gets into trouble it upsets her because she thinks it gives a bad impression of their relationship.
“She’s told him before that people will assume he’s unhappy if they see him out drinking.
“But Coleen did see the funny side later when she saw how ridiculous the situation was. They’re loving their life as a family in the US and are moving on.”
In September 2017 Wayne made a grovelling apology to Coleen after he was caught drink driving at the wheel of a car belonging to Laura Simpson, 23.

A WITNESS to Wayne Rooney’s drunken US airport arrest yesterday said he was marched off to a cell after telling officials to “f*** off.”
England and Manchester United legend Rooney is said to have become “very rude” when he triggered a security alarm after getting off a jet at Washington Dulles Airport.
The witness said: “He caused quite a scene. He’d come off his plane and gone through the gate marked International Arrivals — then wanted to go back for some reason. Only security and airport staff are allowed to do that.
“He was cursing, saying f*** off. He was not very happy at all.”
Police were called and Rooney, who now plays for Washington side United DC, was arrested.
The witness said of the 9am fracas: “It lasted at least 30 minutes. A few people recognised him. They couldn’t believe it was Wayne Rooney.
“He is quite a regular face here as he flies in and out all the time.”
Rooney, returning to the US from a promotional event in Saudi Arabia, was reportedly handcuffed by an armed police officer and taken to a cell at Loudoun County Detention Center.
He was ordered to change into an orange prisoner jumpsuit before posing for a mugshot. Rooney was held for three hours until he sobered up.
His spokesman later said he had drunk three mixed cocktails and a sleeping pill on the flight, leaving him “disorientated.”
Airport officials said Rooney had “triggered a door alarm but did not breach airport security.”
He was charged with public intoxication and swearing.
A court hearing was booked for January 24, but proceedings were dropped when he paid a £20 fine.
He was picked up from jail by a DC United employee before returning to the UK for Christmas with wife Coleen and their four sons.
Yesterday Rooney was back in Washington, this time with Coleen and the children. They were spotted at a shopping mall with Rooney carrying a toy devil’s fork.
When asked how he was, Rooney said he was “doing good.”

He was subsequently banned from driving and given a 100 hour community service order.
