A teenager has been rushed to hospital after he was stabbed on a busy shopping street shortly after 8.30am.

Police were called to Lewisham High Street, south-east London this morning after the youngster was attacked. 

Officers have contacted his next of kin but said his condition has been assessed as 'not life-threatening or life-changing'.

No arrests have been made and detectives are appealing for information, with the location of the attack suggesting there will be many witnesses. 

Scotland Yard tweeted: 'We are at the scene of a stabbing in Lewisham High St at 8.38am today. 

'The victim, a boy in his mid-teens, has been taken to hospital. Next of kin informed. We await details of his condition. Witnesses pls call 101 ref 1431/jan14.'
